Background
Dan
Ascani utilized his market experience and expertise to
create strategies for the Rydex Series
Trust fund family* in the mid 1990s and now manages individual client
accounts for qualified investors. His strategies resulted in the popular Rydex
Nova and Rydex Ursa funds, the latter of which is the first true 100% short
equity fund allowing investors and institutions to sell short or otherwise
hedge portfolios in the stock market. Mr. Ascani also assisted with
the portfolio strategies and trade executions of derivatives transactions of
the Rushmore Nova Fund in the early 1990s. Mr. Ascani is a frequent guest media
commentator on financial markets and is appears regularly for the wire
services and financial media. He hosted his own television show on
financial station KWHY-TV in Los Angeles for many years, and now hosts the GMSTechStreet.com
Market Hour web radio show. He is also a featured
speaker at many investment conferences throughout the county.
Dan is a graduate of UCLA with degrees in economics
and psychology, and has also been a stock and commodities broker since 1982.
Managed Portfolio Strategies
Dynamic Growth Portfolio. This portfolio
uses anticipatory and trend-following components, and seeks to be long or short
the stock market via a mutual fund indexed to the S&P 500 or
NASDAQ 100 Index (such as the Rydex funds discussed above). It utilizes Mr. Ascani's
technical and fundamental analysis, his sector rotation model, and his methods of formulating buy
and sell decisions.
Individual stocks are used as well as mutual funds.
Portfolio Objectives
The purpose of these portfolios is aggressive
capital growth, independent of the direction of the market. Because both
bull and bear funds are used, the portfolio can grow in spite of the trend of the
S&P 500 Index. This type of strategy is ideal for investors who seek
continued portfolio growth not only in a bull market such as that which was
experienced for most of the 1990s, but who also seek the potential for
growth after the bull market ends. It also relieves the investor of having
to determine whether or not a bull market is in lace, and allows the
investor to seek profitability in any kind of market environment, including
trading-range markets.
